The CM Scottish Ceilidh Band ref: 6295.1
An all Scottish ceilidh band, the CM Ceilidh Band are a vibrant young band. After meeting at one of the UK's top music conservatoires the band began to enjoy playing folk music together on such a regular basis that they decided to officially form the CM band in 2011.
Drawing on a collective wealth of experience of over 60 years from all areas of the folk and classical music scene, they are committed to providing high quality, but relaxed and fun traditional Scottish entertainment. Gordon their caller has been calling for ceilidhs since he was 14 and is committed to making sure every one of your guests has as fantastic a night as possible. In his years as a caller, he has become particularly adept at encouraging even the most reticent onto the dance floor! By booking this band for your event, you are booking a band who will provide professional, lively and high quality entertainment from start to finish.
Music has a Scottish focus but includes some tunes from other areas.
A larger band is also available. Recordings are of a 5 piece band.
|Guest at dance||“I had forgotten just how life-affirming a ceilidh can be. It had been three years since I last threw myself about with the entirely joyful and almost reckless abandon that comes with dancing with a good crowd to a great ceilidh band, but within minutes of the start, I recognised that it had been three years too long. The energy and familiarity with which the ensemble approaches the music, fuelled by the charm of caller Gordon's easy and infectious enthusiasm, make the band the perfect catalyst for having a very good time. From the first dance, almost every seat in the house was, and remained empty, with even the most reluctant of punters unable to resist the pull of traditional dances expertly delivered, and with such youthful vigour and a real sense of humour.|
|40th Birthday||Many of my friends had never heard of a ceilidh before, but were completely hooked by the end of the night – every time I looked around, all I could see were happy, smiling faces; many creased with laughter, and all having a great time. It has left us all wondering what special occasion we can celebrate next, as an excuse to book the Band again! I will sum it up with my daughter’s words as the final dance ended, “That was FUN!”|
|Freshers week||Expertly fronted by their caller the audience was charmed and cajoled into an evening of delightful and frivolous entertainment, mixing dance steps and hilarity in equal measures. The Ceilidh Band achieved the impossible combination of rumbustious and slick accompaniment to tunes both familiar and new.|
