"Built in 1812 for the British Prime Minister Jenkinson, the Manor House has played host to many famous names throughout its history. Lord Wellington would certainly have been entertained here during the Waterloo campaign, and in subsequent years, the house has been in the ownership of the Wordsworth family, Lord and Lady Apsley and the Duke of Beaufort. In the last 40 years as a 5 star hotel, it has welcomed the likes of Anthony Hopkins, Emma Thompson, Edward Fox, Christopher Reeve and Hugh Grant. The East wing has been totally refurbished and now forms a self-contained, luxury house which sleeps up to 14 (minimum booking 10) in four spacious bedrooms with a sofa-bed in the sitting room. There are two bathrooms and a downstairs toilet. The kitchen is fully equipped and the sitting room spacious and elegant with dual aspect, Georgian windows. There is parking for up to 6 cars."
