"John Bell, one of the founders of nearby Teeside, picked a location a mile from Saltburn and the sea cliffs to build his country house in 1864. Rushpool Hall, with a decided Moorish influence in its red brick architecture, is set in a lush green rolling hills estate, planted with exotic trees and plants along with the local wildlife. This unique manor was called one the most picturesque mansions in the North of England at the turn of the century and has hosted famous guests like Winston Churchill and Lawrence of Arabia, and Edward VIII. Rushpool Hall Hotel is a popular destination for Victorian style weddings with a choice of conservatory settings and bridal suites.
