"As it stands today the Fence Gate is a beautifully restored three storey building built towards the end of the 17th Century. It had been a house to local squires until the 1850?s when a wealthy cotton merchant Mr Hartley purchased the property and ran his business from the house. Some thirty years ago the house was purchased from a doctor and his family and converted into a small restaurant. Fence Gate is licensed to hold Civil Ceremonies from the smaller more intimate gathering in the Garden Lounge or Patio Suite to larger celebrations in the Cromdale Room."
