We want you to check all band members before we book
We do not check out individual band members before you make a booking for the following reasons:
Checking all band members before you book may lose you the band. Even if you got us to check with all the band members before you made a firm booking, we couldn't tell them the booking was 100% certain. We couldn't expect them to put their personal lives or music business on hold for several days until we had your deposit . (Bands are used to people saying they will book, but then don't.)
It could take a couple of days for us to get hold of everyone in a band, especially if they are on holiday or working outside the UK. It could take another day to tell you they were all available. Another day, but possibly several days, for you to complete the booking form and send us the deposit.
By now many days will have passed. Availability could have changed with one of the band members. So when we eventually get your booking and deposit, the band may have become booked, or if not booked we would have to start the whole process again anyway, contacting every band member to check if they are still available. So another day or two gone.
Likely results:

You may have got a 'band unavailable' answer when it could have been 'available'. A band member who already has a personal commitment is not going to change it just for the possibility of a booking which may never happen. They will say, not available. They will only change it if a booking is certain.

You may have missed out on the band because several days were wasted :

We and a band have to take firm bookings on a first come first served basis. Bands cannot be held for several days just on the off chance that someone might confirm a booking. They may never confirm.

Many musicians have multiple musical lives. A member of a string quartet may also freelance for a number of symphony orchestras. They won't turn down an orchestral booking on the off chance that someone will confirm a booking for the quartet

The reality is that using our availability records and you making a firm booking as soon as possible, gives the greatest probability of getting your band booked. It works most of the time. Anything that causes delays in booking increases the possibility of you losing the band. And, after all, you don't lose anything on those rare occasions we can't book the band or offer you an alternative that you like. Your deposit is refunded.
