The Ringerike Ceilidh / Barn Dance Band

Ringerike play a huge range of folk music for both listening and dancing to. They are no ordinary folk band. As classically trained musicians, they "put the music" into folk.

With such a wide repertoire they can put on specific Irish, or Scottish ceilidh, or play a wide range of national and international music. You define the style of event you want - folk music ranges from some of the most moving and lyrical music in existence to wild, raucous and steamy.

Ringerike love it all! Never danced before? Don't worry, our caller will guide you through. Ceilidhing is fun for all.

The music tracks are of fiddle, flute, guitar and bass, as on the music samples. The 5 piece line up for this band is drawn from the larger band which includes 2 fiddle, accordion, piano/ flute /piccolo, guitar, bass, percussion with one of the musicians calling.

The band would normally play a mixture of Irish, Scottish, English, American, Welsh & European folk music, but if requested when booked, can play predominantly Irish, or Scottish or American or English music to go with traditional dances chosen to be danceable by non experts, if that’s what you’d like.

Testimonials

ReceptionThe Ceilidh band were fantastic! We all had such a good time, especially once people had got over their shyness & were gallivanting around the dance floor!!
WeddingAll of our guests enjoyed themselves, whether dancing or watching – and we saw some people dance that we would never have imagined might give it a try! So thanks for pitching it at the right level. Many thanks
ReceptionHope you all had a good time - we certainly did! The band was fantastic and was the icing on the cake for a really memorable occasion. Thanks again to all the crew.
Wedding ceilidhThanks for the music at our wedding on the 21st Sept, we thoroughly enjoyed everything that your band played and the dancing got everyone going. We had an amazing day as a result of contributions from many people, so thank you once again.
WeddingDear Derek, I just wanted to say a huge thank you for such a wonderhul evenings entertainment you supplied us with on the 15th April at Eastnor. Everyone has said what a fantastic time they had and the ceilidh was a perfect end to our perfect day. On a personal note, we couldn't have asked for better and the band was fantastic - really got everyone going. I'm just sorry it was so cold! Again thank you for staying on so I could use your pa, hope it didn't make you too late home. If anyone asks me in the future for a ceilidh band recommendation, I will of course pass on your information. Once again, a huge huge thank you. Best regards, James
Birthday partyThis is to say a big THANK YOU for coming on the evening and playing so well, and to such a high standard, much to the appreciation of all those we’ve spoken to/had messages/had cards from – and there were some pretty good folk musicians in the hall. It really was a very successful party, with Ringerike taking centre stage, and getting the, albeit willing, audience on their feet for lots of fun dancing. The ceilidh seemed to be pitched just right, with a good mix of the easier dances early on and the more intricate later on much to the delight/laughter of the dancers.
WeddingDear Esther & the wonderful Ringerike Celidth band, Rhys & I are so very grateful that we chose you to play at our wedding on May 14th at Cotswolds Hotel & Spa. You made the evening extremely special, with a room full of laughter & smiles. The morning after, a group of our drama school friends were recapping the 'heel toe, heel toe' section. I do apologise that it was extremely loud in that room and hope you know that your efforts in teaching and entertaining were much appreciated and loved. We will certainly recommend you to others in the future. One last thing - we are getting some video footage from the barn dance, so if you'd like to see any for your website etc please let us know. Love & God bless, Maryanne & Rhys Jones
