The Ringerike Ceilidh / Barn Dance Band ref: 4003.3dc
This is the 4 piece including caller lineup of Ringerike. They play a huge range of folk music for both listening and dancing to. They are no ordinary folk band. As classically trained musicians, they "put the music" into folk. With such a wide repertoire they can put on specific Irish, or Scottish ceilidhs, or play a wide range of national and international music. You define the style of event you want - folk music ranges from some of the most moving and lyrical music in existence to wild, raucous and steamy. Ringerike love it all! Never danced before? Don't worry, our caller will guide you through. Ceilidhing is fun for all.
The music tracks are of fiddle, flute, guitar and bass, as on the music samples. The 4 piece line up for this band is drawn from the larger band which includes 2 fiddle, accordion, piano/ flute /piccolo, guitar, bass, percussion with one of the musicians calling.
The band would normally play a mixture of Irish, Scottish, American, English, Welsh & European folk music, but if requested when booked, can play predominantly Irish, or Scottish or American or English music to go with traditional dances chosen to be danceable by non experts, if that’s what you’d like.
|Anniversary Event||"Please can you pass my thanks to the band who played for us on Saturday. They were really great and the caller for the Ceilidh was excellent. We all had a lovely evening."|
|Birthday Party||A quick note to thank all the members of the Ringerike Ceilidh Band for a truly memorable evening. As you realised, you were playing to a tent full of musicians, but with humour, grace and outstanding musicianship you took us all to a less familiar place and everyone loved it. Musicians they may have been but you will have noted that this does not necessarily make them dancers! Nevertheless, for sheer fun and zest your music could not be beaten and thank you for including something even my old 'Pa' could dance to. He thoroughly enjoyed his slow waltz.|
|Birthday Party||Dear Derek and fellow musicians Thank you for playing at our ceilidh on Saturday. There is nothing but flowing compliments from the guests about your top quality performance. We loved your choice of pieces – traditional dances intermingled with some fun ones, and even a waltz number to regain a moment of calm. The evening was a huge success – a buzzing dance floor with peels of laughter - and we feel totally celebrated. Hope you enjoyed the evening too. Best wishes Evelyne|

|Wedding||Tom and I have been meaning to get in touch to say thank you so much to you and your band for the wonderful ceilidh at our wedding! We loved all the dances and also the music you played while we were all enjoying the buffet. You played with such enthusiasm and patience despite our very basic dancing skills! I know Tom's nieces particularly enjoyed it - we couldn't get them off the dance floor! Lots of guests who wouldn't normally get up and dance also mentioned how much they enjoyed the dancing, so thank you. And thanks also for the extra hour you played because of the delays caused by our over-long speeches! We know this must have meant you arriving home very late so it was much appreciated, especially so soon before Christmas.|
|Reception||"Hope you all had a good time - we certainly did! The band was fantastic and was the icing on the cake for a really memorable occasion. Thanks again to all the crew."|
|Reception||"The Ceilidh band were fantastic! We all had such a good time ,especially once people had got over their shyness & were gallivanting around the dance floor!!"|
|Wedding||"Dear Derek, I just wanted to say a huge thank you for such a wonderful evenings entertainment you supplied us with on the 15th April at Eastnor. Everyone has said what a fantastic time they had and the ceilidh was a perfect end to our perfect day. If anyone asks me in the future for a ceilidh band recommendation, I will of course pass on your information. Once again, a huge huge thank you."|
|Birthday party||"This is to say a big THANK YOU for coming on the evening and playing so well, and to such a high standard, much to the appreciation of all those we’ve spoken to/had messages/had cards from – and there were some pretty good folk musicians in the hall. It really was a very successful party, with Ringerike taking centre stage, and getting the, albeit willing, audience on their feet for lots of fun dancing. The ceilidh seemed to be pitched just right, with a good mix of the easier dances early on and the more intricate later on much to the delight/laughter of the dancers."|
|Wedding||"All of our guests enjoyed themselves, whether dancing or watching – and we saw some people dance that we would never have imagined might give it a try! So thanks for pitching it at the right level. Many thanks"|
|Wedding ceilidh||"Thanks for the music at our wedding on the 21st Sept, we thoroughly enjoyed everything that your band played and the dancing got everyone going. We had an amazing day as a result of contributions from many people, so thank you once again."|
|Wedding||"Hi Derek, I just wanted to thank you and the band for a fabulous performance you gave us. Everyone at the wedding had great fun at the Ceilidh and really enjoyed it. It really helped to mix everyone together. I hope you enjoyed your time too. Once again thank you very much. You contributed in making our day exceptional."|
|Wedding||Dear Esther & the wonderful Ringerike Celidth band, Rhys & I are so very grateful that we chose you to play at our wedding on May 14th at Cotswolds Hotel & Spa. You made the evening extremely special, with a room full of laughter & smiles. The morning after, a group of our drama school friends were recapping the 'heel toe, heel toe' section. I do apologise that it was extremely loud in that room and hope you know that your efforts in teaching and entertaining were much appreciated and loved. We will certainly recommend you to others in the future. Love & God bless, Maryanne & Rhys|
