The DF Ceilidh Duo

The DF Ceilidh Band are undoubtedly one of the most versatile ensembles on our roster. If you choose to book them, you're in for a real treat. Despite only being two musicians, they offer an impressive list of instruments - fiddle, pipes, guitar, cajon, vocals, flute, saxophone - plus ceilidh calling too.

Loosely based on an all Scottish Ceilidh Band, they can also include English, Irish, American, Klezmer Scandinavian, Eastern European and French. They use loops to build up a full band sound, offering a broad repertoire of dances and music. Their infectious style and energetic performance suits all occasions, from weddings and festivals to corporate events and birthday parties.

The great thing about the ceilidh is that it gets everyone, young and old, shy or confident up on the dance floor! Don't worry if you don't know the dance steps - the job of the band's caller is to show you how to dance the dances. Dancers will be walked through the dances and any unfamiliar moves explained, before they attempt them with the music - supported all the way by the caller.

Photos and music samples are of the larger band. The band can also offer the use of their PA for a "DIY disco" after the ceilidh - please enquire for more details. They can also offer songs, so they are popular for conferences etc where perhaps you want an evening of Scottish music but don't necessarily want to ceilidh all night. They also offer highland pipes, ceremony music on flute, fiddle, guitar or a combination thereof, and music for drinks receptions. Did we mention they can call the ceilidh dances in French or German too?!
