All female string quartets are popular for corporate event entertainment, product launches, entertainment for parties and other situations where the visual impact of the musicians is as important as the music itself. Many of the all female string quartets include arrangements modern of pop and covers music in their repertoire. Pop bands are often backed by all female string groups on TV and video performances, the musicians being an integral part of the performance scene. This fashion can be capitalised on for product launches and other high profile events that have a visual element to them.

 

Of course, all female string quartets do play for wedding receptions and dinners in the same way as any other string quartet and will perform the same baroque, classical and light music as other quartets.
The difference between an all female string quartet and any other is purely visual, so you would want to capitalise on this in your positioning of them. You should decide if you want a quartet that have a large pop, covers and modern music repertoire, or whether you want create a ‘civilised’ atmosphere with classical music but have a wide range of musical styles available for variety.  A quartet will have enough volume to compete with a moderate level of background chatter or play in an outdoor situation if care is taken with the location and guests are close to the musicians.

You do need to be aware that they will play unamplified, so if you have a lot of guests shouting at each other, are in a large and noisy marquee (marquees absorb sound) or in a large garden where there are no hard building walls to reflect the sound, then you are likely not to hear them properly.

Corporate events companies are always looking for corporate event ideas or unusual entertainment ideas. An all female string quartet may fit the bill. If you are an event planner thinking of hiring a string quartet for an event entertainment slot or product launch, you need to think about the venue acoustics and positioning of the musicians. If in a large exhibition venue for a product launch, think of having them on the exhibition stand with a solid partition or wall behind them to reflect the sound towards the attendees. If at a conference, you may want them on the stage to the side of the speaker's lectern, so that they form part of the visual effect of the presentation.

We have had String quartets performing outdoors at showgrounds. This has to be organised carefully, with fall back plans for bad weather; a string ensemble can't play in windy or cold conditions, and must have shade from sun or rain. Drafts can also cause problems in large exhibition centres if your stand is at the edge and near an entrance or exit. A howling cold draft will put the instruments out of tune and the cold can make it physically difficult to play. This is even more relevant with all female musicians who may be wearing low cut evening dresses and will be very susceptible to the cold.

If they are being considered as cabaret entertainment for parties or dinners, they may need to be amplified. A very few string quartets supply their own amplification, so you may need to get your sound engineer to organise this and man the mixing desk. If you are a wedding planner trying to think of wedding entertainment ideas, then bear in mind that an 'babes' string quartet might go down well with the groom, but not necessarily with the bride!
