Situated on the picturesque north Devon coastline, Ilfracombe is a seaside town with a small harbour. Hillsborough hill, the site of an Iron Age fort, is above the harbour. The Iron Age tribe which made the hill fort was the Dumnonii tribe.
There are interesting buildings and things to see in Ilfracombe. The Landmark Theatre was built after the Pavilion Theatre partly burnt down, and is contraversial because of the unusual double conical design. There is a lighthouse, St Nicholas's Chapel on Lantern Hill, and Damien Hirst's statue Verity sits at the entrance to the harbour.
