About Leek

Leek is towards the north of Staffordshire, on the River Churnet. The River Churnet rises in the Staffordshire moorlands and is a tributary of the River Dove. Leek is also at the edge of the Peak District, which was the first national park in the UK in 1951.

Deep Hayes Country Park is to the south west of Leek. It is a 60 acre site with three pools and it is bordered by a canal. The pools used to be a reservoir; Deep Hayes Reservoir.

Leek is near The Roaches, a steep gritstone escarpment which is at 505m, compared to Leek's 180m.
