The OM Irish Folk Band

The OM Irish band's unique music has and always will get a party, wedding and event going off with a bang. On the top line is premier fiddle player Mac who plunges from Irish set dances into the jazz style of Stephan Grappelli with surprising ease. On guitar and vocals is John whose playing is a startling combination of cross rhythms/ jazz chords and counter melodies that produce completely original arrangements of the songs. With a background on the London music scene he brings many diverse influences to the band. In the rhythm section there is the wild and enigmatic Bodhran playing of James ,complimented with his gravel voice and percussion. Lo on 5 and 4 string banjo provide a unique Irish/Celtic sound that enhances all their songs and tunes, modeling himself on Barney McKenna of the Dubliners. Some of the photos only show a three piece band as the banjo player is a more recent addtion.

The band have a vast selection of Irish and Scottish tunes they play and sing, including Rocky Road to Dublin, Cork hornpipe, Chief O'Neill's, Drowsy maggie, Whisky in the jar, Galway Girl, Star of the county down, Black velvet band, Liverpool, Swallow tail Jig, The Banshee, 7 drunken nights, Tell me ma, John Ryan's, Liverpool, and many many more Irish songs, with Edinburgh, a hundred pipers, Marie's wedding, We're no awa ta bide awa, and many more. They can also sing a few American song by Johnny Cash.and play some bagpipe tunes on request.

Photos and audio clips are of the three piece band as the banjp player only jined quite recently. A 3 piece band is aslo available - without the banjo player.
