"Seen to be the most beautiful house in England by the architectural writer Christopher Hussey the history of Brympton starts in the 13th Century when the land was purchased by the d'Evercy family. The exquisite Dower House dates from this time. Brympton passed by descent through the Sydenham family to the Earls of Westmoreland and the Clive-Ponsonby-Fane family who still live on the estate today. Each successive generation has added wings to Brympton including the Elizabethan West Front and the magnificent South Front (which is reputed to have been built by Inigo Jones) to create the splendid house today. Brympton has been featured in feature films including Chocalat with Johnny Depp and Restoration with Hugh Grant. The house is set in 33 acres of stunning parkland with a magnificent lake that perfectly mirrors the exquisite South Front - a suitable backdrop for your wedding day."
