"Celebrate your special day amongst the beautiful art collections at New Walk Museum & Art Gallery. The museum is an approved venue for civil and wedding ceremonies. The ceremonies take place in the main art gallery, first opened to the public in 1876 and has a seating capacity of up to 180 guests. The Victorian architecture and interior design of the gallery is magnificent and the moulding of the beautiful ceiling portrays a colour scheme of cornflower blue and gold which offers an overall feeling of romance to the special day. This elegant building located on the picturesque New Walk was designed by Joseph Hansom in 1837. Originally the Leicester Proprietary School, it became a museum in 1849. Since then the museum has steadily grown to become a major regional venue housing temporary exhibitions and Leicester's collections."
