The location makes it an ideal centre from which to visit the Lake District, Hadrian's Wall, the North Pennines, Durham Cathedral and the Yorkshire Dales. This elegant Georgian Country House Hotel stands on the former site of a 13th century convent on the banks of the River Nent, which nestles in the foothills of Alston Moor. There are 3 acres of secluded gardens in which to sit and relax whilst enjoying the unspoilt views of the surrounding countryside. Lovelady Shield has been used as a venue for marriage ceremonies and receptions for a number of years and has prided itself on being a very special place for what is arguable one of the most important events of a lifetime. You can have exclusive use of the property for the weekend, and can accommodate upto 27 guests in the house and can arrange for any more guests to stay at hotels or guest houses within a very short distance."
