A brief history of Midsummer Music…
The Midsummer Music Agency began back in the 90’s as a way of bringing our own
Midsummer Ensemble, Midsummer Quartet and Ringerike Ceilidh Band to those who
loved music and wanted good music for their weddings and functions. Over a
number of years, the agency grew to include the music groups of friends and
colleagues around the country, and underwent significant expansion: we now
promote over 1200 music groups across the UK. As a result we are able to offer
you a wide range of live music groups and bands that cover the Classical, Jazz,
Folk and Pop/Rock/Cover genres.
The agency began in Malvern, Worcestershire, UK, (but the administrative centre
has since moved to Hereford). Midsummer Music operates throughout the
UK (except for N Ireland). The composer Edward Elgar lived and composed many of
his major works in Malvern and
his grave is a mile from the office; The virtuoso classical, jazz and
folk violinist Nigel Kennedy made Malvern his home for many years; The Victorian
singer Jenny
Lind (the Swedish Nightingale) is buried within sight of the office: The English Symphony Orchestra
rehearses in a church also visible from our windows, Chandos Symphony Orchestra
perform in the Malvern Theatre complex etc. etc. So we are based in a Victorian
spa town with a long history of musical connections:
We like to think the musical environment helps our business prosper! Though
based on the Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, Hereford borders, we are an
internet based business and work with musicians throughout the U.K., providing live
music for venues nationwide for Weddings, Parties, Anniversaries, Corporate
Events, Charity Fundraisers and more.
